Strengths
Founded in 1965, the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design has degrees in architecture, interior design and landscape architecture with the only professionally accredited architecture program in the state. Approximately 350 undergraduates are enrolled in the 5 year Bachelor of Architecture Program, while 53 graduate students are pursuing a first professional Master of Architecture degree. Both degrees are accredited by the National Architecture Accreditation Board. The College offers a 4 year B.S. in Interior Design, which is also professionally accredited, by FIDER with a student body of approximately 80 students. The new Master of Landscape Architecture Program is in its second year and is in the candidacy stage with full accreditation expected in spring 2012. The college has a faculty of 35. Numerous regional professionals visit the College annually for public lectures, exhibits, student presentations, course activities, and other College events. All students have a desk in the award winning Art + Architecture Building, one of the finest facilities for the study of architecture in the country.
