Design Matters Camp
A summer camp for high school students, Design Matters offers motivated high school students an introduction to the design of the built environment and the considerations that shape it. The setting, curriculum, and instruction also provide the opportunity to experience life as a design student on a university campus for one week. Previous architecture or design experience is not necessary. Curiosity is the sole prerequisite.
The 2013 Design Matters Camp will be held June 16-21.

Registration
Registration forms and deposits for Design Matters must
be electronically submitted by June 1.
A non-refundable deposit of $100 is also required at that time.

Forms
Once registered, there are several forms for campers and their parents to complete. These include the:
• Design Camp Photo Release Form
• Medical Release Form
• In an Emergency, Permission to Treat Form
• Standards of Conduct Form
• Indication of T-Shirt Size and Other Important Information
These forms, available for download in this compressed zip-folder, should be signed and returned to Amy Burns at designmatters@utk.edu.

Costs
The fee includes:
• Tuition and instruction
• Materials, equipment, and computers
• On-campus housing and meal tickets to
campus dining
• Field trip admission tickets
• Transportation to and from off-campus sites
• Walking tours of downtown Knoxville and the
Campus
***Linens are not provided. All students must bring their own pillow, sheet, towels, and sleeping bag or twin xl bedding.
Scholarships
Two full scholarships will be awarded, one of each, in the categories of design and architecture for the Design Matters 2013 Camp. The competition is open to high school students only.
