The College of Architecture and Design offers several opportunities and special programs for students to experience learning outside of the classroom.
Traveling and seeing how other cultures express architecture and design is important. The college provides several opportunities for students to travel abroad to experience other cultures and interact with design students in other countries. The college hosts an annual summer design camp for high school students called Design Matters. The camp offers motivated high school students an introduction to the design of the built environment. Architecture and design students can volunteer to assist the camp directors lead the camp.
TAAST, The Annual All-college Spring Thing, has been a college tradition for decades. It's a week-long event where the college cuts loose and comes together for a good time. TAAST week in years' past has included the Kickball Tournament, the Silent Auction, the Date Auction, the General Shale Lecture, the Beaux Arts Ball, the Interior Design Showcase and Interview Days.
