Team of Architecture and Planning Students Claim Top Honors in EPA Sustainable Design Competition in D.C.
A team from the UT Knoxville, comprised largely of architecture students, won top honors at the P3 Award Competition during the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Sustainable Design Expo held in Washington, D.C., April 18 - 20. As its prize, the winning team has been awarded a grant of $75,000 from the EPA. Read More.
"Showing the Love Towers" Beautification Day
On Saturday, May 9, members of the local chapter of the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and staff from the College of Architecture and Design turned out for the first Beautification Day at Love Towers in North Knoxville.
By implementing the landscape architecture plan drafted by Zeke Cooper and Chris Chandler, both graduate students in the landscape architecture program, participants ripped up old plants, installed new landscaping and even built several large planter boxes enhancing the entrance to the grounds.

Odd Fellows Cemetery Reanimation
Architecture professors Katherine Ambroziak, Brian Ambroziak, Ted Shelton, Tricia Stuth and David Fox have teamed up with the Knoxville Re-animation Coalition (KRC) on a restoration project at Odd Fellows Cemetery in East Knoxville. They will work with KRC and other members of the community to design a restored and reanimated cemetery. They held an illumination kick off event in late February to introduce KRC and their project to the East Knoxville community.

When the Friends of Panther Creek State Park, a nonprofit organization established to protect and preserve the park, wanted a scenic overlook, UT faculty and students provided not only a functional platform but also an artistic interpretation of the park's evolution.
