Welcome to the College of Architecture and Design. We're home to some of the university's best and brightest students and most qualified and experienced faculty. The college has a strong relationship with design firms and organizations in Knoxville and throughout the state, giving our students ample opportunities to get a real taste for the profession. And several established outreach efforts give our students the chance to get hands-on with their design education. From building homes for lower income families to study abroad programs during the summer, the college community stays busy year-round. Lecture SeriesDesigning Environments for Health Lecture Series Continues Feb. 10

The Designing Environments for Health lecture series continues Wednesday, Feb 10 with a presentation by BSA LifeStructures at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in room 109 of the Art + Architecture Building. Members of the firm will present "Creating an Experience Environment in Healthcare," which will explore one of the firm's projects: a new inpatient pavilion at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Florida. Robert B. Church III Lecture Series Begins Next Month

The College of Architecture and Design has invited several nationally and internationally prominent architects, designers, historians and theorists to present their work as part of the Robert B. Church III Memorial Lecture Series this semester. The series kicks off Monday, Feb. 15, with Dan Hoffman, principal at STUDIO MA in Phoenix. His lecture, "Green Desert: The Work of STUDIO MA," will explore the projects of the architecture and environmental practice. Read More.

University Extends International Graduate Application Deadline

Attention international Masters of Architecture and Masters of Landscape Architecture applicants: The university has extended the deadline for international applications to February 8, 2010. There is still time to begin your application process!

Max RobinsonUT's College of Architecture and Design Establishes Design Competition to Honor Retired Professor

The College of Architecture and Design has announced the establishment of the Max Robinson Design Fund, an endowment created to foster an annual design competition to honor the 34 years of dedicated service and teaching of Professor Max Robinson, who retired from full-time teaching at the end of the fall 2009 semester. ACSA logoUT Architecture Faculty Honored by National Architecture Organization

Two instructors in the College of Architecture and Design were honored recently by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture for their academic work. Tricia Stuth, an associate professor, was one of only three architecture faculty in the country recognized by the ACSA and the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) with the 2009-2010 New Faculty Teaching Award. Avigail Sachs, an instructor in the School of Architecture, was recognized by the ACSA, along with the Journal of Architectural Education (JAE), with the 2009-2010 Journal of Architectural Education Best Scholarship of Design Article Award.
